Housing
Craig List:
http://newyork.craigslist.org/
This is a community resource website for New York City called Craig's List. Go
to the housing section and you will find many postings for apartments. The postings
on this site are not screened. So be careful to really make sure that the people
that you are dealing with are legitimate, ask for references. But if you are careful
and thorough, you can find some excellent deals here. Be aware that you need to
find a balance between cost and travel time for commuting back and forth to the
to the theatre. Generally speaking Manhattan is more expensive (not always) but
closer and convenient (not always). Generally Queens, Brooklyn and New Jersey are
less expensive but are sometimes longer travel commutes (not always!). The Bronx,
Upper Harlem, Staten Island are generally cheaper, but the travel commute is usually
long and more complicated by public transportation. You also need to find out if
the apartment is close to public transportation (subways, busses) and is in a safe
neighborhood. Do YOUR Research! And ask people who you trust who know New York for
their opinion! Contact us at the theatre to get our opinion. Good luck!
