We are proud to offer a Volunteer Program for people from all walks of life that leads to personal and professional development through creative training and community service, and provides an opportunity to make a meaningful commitment to our shared community through award-winning programs by The Actors Theatre Workshop.
The Volunteer Program of the Actors Theatre Workshop is comprised of a two-tier commitment structure.
Tier I. Mentoring and Programming Assistants for The Builders of the New World: ATW operates an award-winning theatre and education program for homeless children and at-risk youth, The Builders of the New World. The Builders of the New World children’s class meets on Tuesday afternoons in after-school sessions that take place throughout the year. To become a Volunteer Mentor and Program Assistant the following is required:
Tier II. Volunteer Leadership Program: ATW is proud to offer committed individuals the opportunity to learn, develop and make a significant change in the community through our Volunteer Leadership Program. To participate as a Volunteer Leadership Program member:
Each Volunteer Leadership Program includes a series of training sessions in creative process and theatre principals taught by ATW’s Artistic Director, Executive Producer and Founder Thurman E. Scott. Mr. Scott provides training in his proven, original creative techniques that help participants deepen their understanding, have more success in all areas of their life and develop their intuitiveness and inspiration. The trainings develop Leadership Program Volunteers’ potential so they are able to enhance their productivity, accomplishing more with a sense of ease and creative insight. The trainings also introduce volunteers to new ways of looking at the artistic and administrative projects they will encounter at ATW and help integrate them into the creative ensemble of ATW’s volunteer staff.
Each week you will utilize your talents and expertise in a variety of areas to make a real contribution to our organization and the community. The volunteer program includes a regular weekly volunteer commitment of 10, 15, or 20 hours per week, depending on the particular areas in which you volunteer.
